The 4Cs in brief

Four grades set a diamond’s quality and price. Learn them and you can read any grading certificate.

Cut
Cut is how well a diamond's facets return light. It affects sparkle more than anything else. Grades run from Ideal or Excellent down to Fair. A well-cut stone outshines a bigger, badly cut one.
Colour
Graded from D (icy white) to Z (tinted). D to F are colourless. G to J are near-colourless, look white once set and cost far less.
Clarity
Measures tiny internal marks (inclusions), from Flawless (FL) to Included (I3). VS1 to SI1 stones are usually eye-clean: you can't see anything without magnification.
Carat
Carat is weight, not size. Price jumps at round numbers (1.0ct, 2.0ct), so 0.9ct can cost far less than 1.0ct while looking almost identical.

Common questions

How is the fair price worked out?

We find diamonds with the same type, shape, colour, clarity and cut, and a similar carat weight. The fair price is the median (middle) price of those stones. It’s an estimate from market data, not a valuation.

Are the diamonds certified?

Most are graded by GIA or IGI, two of the most respected labs. Each diamond’s page shows which lab graded it and the report number. When you browse, you can filter to GIA or IGI only.

Is it free to use?

Yes. Checking prices and browsing are free. You only pay if you decide to buy a diamond.

What’s the difference between natural and lab-grown?

Natural diamonds formed underground over billions of years. Lab-grown diamonds are made in weeks and have the same chemistry and look. Lab-grown usually costs 70 to 90% less. We list both and label each one.

Where do the diamonds come from?

From trade suppliers. If you like one, send us an enquiry and we source it for you at a transparent price. Every stone gets the same fair-price check, whoever supplies it.
